19th Century English Tooled Leather Chinoiserie Four-Panel Folding Screen

A four-panel folding screen decorated throughout in gilt on a black ground with Chinoiserie scenes of pagodas, bridges, figures in landscapes, cranes, birds, and flowering plants. The decoration is organized across the panels as a continuous scene in the upper portion, with individual framed vignettes at top and bottom of each panel, all bordered by a gilt trellis pattern. The panels are bound at the edges with brass tack trim. Circa 1850.
