Oil on canvas depicting two terriers — one tan, one white — investigating a barrel amid barn straw, with a red cloth hanging in the background. The paint surface is richly worked with visible impasto throughout, characteristic of Armfield’s handling. Signed lower right. Presented in a carved and gilt frame with a “Geo. Armfield” plaque on the lower rail.
