Late 18th Century French Carved Giltwood Marble Top Console Table

An elegant and solidly built carved giltwood French console with a variegated rouge marble top. The deep apron is carved throughout with scrolling acanthus and foliate strapwork framed by beaded molding, with bold floral rosette panels at the corners. The fluted tapered legs are carved with olive leaf sprigs running through the flutes, set on turned feet with acanthus collar capitals. The carving throughout is crisp and confident. Circa 1774-1792.
