George IV Ebonized and Parcel-Gilt Armchair in the manner of Morel and Hughes

A large and important early 19th century English library or open armchair in the manner of Morel and Hughes, suppliers of finely decorated furniture to the Prince Regent’s Carlton House. This chair displays a finely carved and gilded crest rail with gently sloping open arms above caned seat resting tapering carved acanthus leaf legs terminating in later casters. More recently upholstered in a soft gray linen fabric with loose cushion seat.
